چکیده

With recent advances in wireless networking, Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) became practically feasible. Body Area Networks are defined by the IEEE 802.15.6 standard. However, IEEE 802.15.4 MAC can also be used for WBANs as it is cheap and simple. This paper presents a study about the standards IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.6. In this paper, both IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.6 are explained with their super-frame structures. Index Terms – Wireless Sensor Networks, Wireless Body Area Networks, Medium Access Control.

Multi-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

Performance modeling of asynchronous data transfer methods of IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol

To satisfy the needs of wireless data networking, study group 802.11 was formed under IEEE project 802 to recommend an international standard for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). A key part of standard are the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol needed to support asynchronous and time bounded delivery of data frames. It has been proposed that unslotted Carrier Sense Multiple Access with C...

Enhanced CSMA/CA Contention Window for Efficient Random Access in IEEE 802. 15. 6

The IEEE 802. 15. 6 is a new communication standard on Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) for short-range, wireless communications in the vicinity of, or inside a human body. It is used for medical and non-medical applications. The IEEE 802. 15. 6 draft defines a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer compatible with several Physical layers (PHY), it also specifies two main channel access modes; cont...
